PHYSICO-CHEMICAL INVESTIGATION OF THE SnTe–NdTe SYSTEM

Phase diagram of the SnTe–NdTe system has been studied using differential-thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, microstructural analysis and microhardness and density measurements. It has been established that the system SnTe–NdTe is a quasibinary section of ternary system Sn–Nd–Te. It is found out that in the system studied peritectic compound of NdSnTe2 composition forms at 8600C. At room temperature the SnTe  – based solid solution extends to 5 mol % NdSnTe2, and the   SnTe  solubility in NdSnTe2 is –  ~3 mol % SnTe
