The batches of sodium and potassium salts of carboxymethyl cellulose (Na-, K-CMC) with various contents of carboxymethyl groups in their macrochain have been synthesized in laboratory scale. In this case the purified wood filings and wastes of cotton-cleaning (c/c) plants have been used as the raw materials. It has been shown that the priority directions of using of these salts are the oil extraction from wells and capsulation of granules of mineral fertilizers. The processes of using Na-CMC at emulsion method of the oil extraction from wells and purification of territory polluted by oils have been investigated. It has been established that this polymer emulsifier favors increase of the oil extraction from wells. It has been confirmed by comparison of results with other emulsifiers that Na-CMC provides high coefficient of the oil extraction from wells.
